Repatriation of Ancient Greek Column Head
A 4th-century BC Greek column head has been returned to Ancient Olympia from Germany.
The column head, a fragment of an Ionic capital, was removed illegally in the 1960s from the Leonidaion of Ancient Olympia.
- Made of limestone
- Preserves some plaster in places
- Maximum dimensions: 24 cm height, 33.5 cm width
The return of the column head was marked with a repatriation ceremony at the Ancient Olympia Conference Center.
No comment from Ministry of Culture.
