Integration of Health Services Vital for Sustaining HIV Gains

Amidst dwindling donor funding in the health sector, integration of services remains crucial to ensuring that the progress made in the fight against HIV is not reversed, according to Douglas Bosire, acting CEO of the National Syndemic Disease Control Council (NSDCC).

This was stated during the Africa Health Systems Forum 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, themed ‘The Case for Sustainable Health Financing and Africa’s Way Forward.’

However, a stop order implemented by the United States (US) government in early 2025 nearly threatened this progress, as the US is the second largest contributor to HIV funding in Kenya, besides the Global Fund.

The progress made in the fight against HIV should not be reversed.

Author summary: Integration of health services is crucial for sustaining HIV gains.
