The Prospect volleyball team secured the Robeson County middle school championship title by defeating Magnolia 3-2 at Purnell Swett High School.
Prospect won the first set 25-21, but Magnolia took the lead by winning the second and third sets 25-21 and 25-20, respectively. Prospect then won the fourth set 25-18, forcing a fifth set, which they won 15-12.
“It means the world to me but it’s even more important to them,”
said Prospect head coach Kenzie Swett, acknowledging the team's hard work and dedication.
“This was one of the better teams I’ve ever had,”
said Magnolia head coach Jermie Oxendine, expressing pride in his team's performance despite the loss.
This championship marked the culmination of a successful season for both teams, with some players set to move on to high school next year.
