The Baltimore Orioles have strengthened their outfield depth for the 2026 season by signing Leody Taveras, according to multiple reports. The deal adds a versatile option to the team’s roster.
Taveras spent the first five seasons of his career with the Texas Rangers before splitting the 2025 season between the Rangers and the Seattle Mariners organizations. It was a difficult year for him, batting .205 with 3 home runs and 17 RBIs in 58 games before being assigned to Triple-A Tacoma in mid-June.
Once in Tacoma, Taveras rebounded, hitting .280 with 11 home runs and 68 RBIs. He is currently playing winter ball in the Dominican Winter League for Aguilas Cibaenas, where he has posted a .300 average in nine games.
“The Baltimore Orioles have brought a depth outfield option into the fold for 2026, agreeing to a deal with Leody Taveras,” reported WBFF Baltimore.
In Baltimore, Taveras will compete for playing time in a packed outfield that already includes Colton Cowser, Jeremiah Jackson, Tyler O'Neill, Dylan Beavers, and Heston Kjerstad.
Leody Taveras joins the Orioles after a rocky 2025 season, aiming to revive his performance and secure a role in Baltimore’s competitive outfield rotation.
