First and Last Bakery, located in Connecticut, has recalled three tomato pasta sauces after state regulators detected a potential botulism hazard caused by improper processing. Shoppers are urged to check their jars and return any affected products.
The 26-ounce jars were distributed in Connecticut and Massachusetts from September 22 to October 28, 2025. All recalled sauces carry a "Use By 09/26" date.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports that the company has halted sales and production to "ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements." No illnesses have been reported so far.
Improperly processed acidified or low-acid canned foods can allow the formation of Clostridium botulinum toxin.
Botulism is rare but can be deadly, affecting the nervous system and proving fatal in 5–10 percent of cases.
