Edinburgh Trams to commemorate Remembrance Day

Edinburgh Trams to Commemorate Remembrance Day

Edinburgh Trams will honor Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November) by paying tribute to those who lost their lives during World War I, World War II, and more recent conflicts. The company aims to express gratitude to the members of the armed forces for their service and sacrifice.

Free Travel for Veterans and Service Members

On both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, veterans and currently serving members of the Army, Navy, and Air Force will be offered free tram travel. They can take advantage of this by presenting their military ID or wearing their uniform.

Poppy Displays and Donations

In the days leading up to the commemorations, representatives from Poppy Scotland will be stationed at the Haymarket tram stop to sell poppies. Additionally, poppies will be displayed in tram windows as a symbol of remembrance and respect.

Two-Minute Silence

As a further tribute, tram services will pause at 11 a.m. on both days to observe a two-minute silence, where it is safe to do so, reflecting on those who served and sacrificed for their nation.

As a former veteran myself, and with many of our colleagues also having served, we are deeply committed to honoring those who have paid the ultimate price in service to our country,” said Lea Harrison, Managing Director of Edinburgh Trams.
