According to reports from the New York Post’s Jon Heyman and Spanish broadcaster Mike Rodriguez, free agent outfielder Leody Taveras has agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal with the Baltimore Orioles.
The 27-year-old switch-hitting centerfielder finished the 2025 season hitting .205 with three home runs, 17 RBIs, and a .530 OPS over 58 games with Seattle and Texas. He also recorded nine stolen bases in 12 attempts.
In the previous season with the Rangers (2024), Taveras played 151 games, hitting .229 with 12 home runs, 44 RBIs, a .641 OPS, and 23 steals in 29 attempts.
After June 7, Taveras did not appear in the majors. The Mariners assigned him to Triple-A Tacoma, where he achieved a .280 average with an .804 OPS, 11 home runs, 69 RBIs, and 23 steals in 24 attempts.
The Orioles will need to free a spot on their 40-man roster to accommodate Taveras.
