An American man and his teenage son tragically died within hours after each suffered over 100 stings from aggressive Asian giant hornets in Laos.
Daniel Owen, 46, originally from Idaho, and his 15-year-old son Cooper, were visiting Laos from Vietnam. Daniel is the director of an international school in Vietnam. The accident happened on October 15 at Green Jungle Park, an eco-adventure resort in northern Laos.
While descending a tree during a ziplining activity, they were attacked by a swarm of territorial Asian giant hornets, whose stingers can be up to six millimeters long.
"A man and his teenage son died after both were stung over 100 times by a swarm of Asian giant hornets," reported The London Times.
The family was visiting from Vietnam, where Daniel Owen works, adding a tragic layer to the event at the popular jungle resort.
