Agricultural Workforce Development Program
Labor is a common challenge in Colorado agriculture, with businesses struggling to find qualified employees and young people having limited access to training programs.
The Agricultural Workforce Development Program, funded by the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA), addresses these issues by reimbursing farms, ranches, and agricultural businesses for 50% (up to $5,000) of the cost to employ an intern, covering expenses such as wages, insurance, and protective gear.
- Since 2018, the CDA has awarded nearly $900,000 to support 244 internships.
- 189 businesses across the state have benefited from the program.
The program tackles both the challenge of finding qualified employees and providing young people with real-world work experience in agriculture.
The Colorado Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Workforce Development Program is now accepting applications.
