Mud Slide Leaves Vancouver Island's Holberg Stranded and Without Power

A windstorm has cut off access to the small, remote community of Holberg on Vancouver Island's northern tip due to a mudslide.

A mudslide has closed Holberg Road outside of Holberg, with reports of several other slides having occurred. According to Dane Cameron, the Regional District of Mount Waddington's emergency program coordinator,

"The slide occurred on Northeast 60 Road at approximately the 14k mark,"
which is a Western Forests Products section of road.

BC Hydro reports that 47 customers have been affected by the slide and are currently without power, including areas such as Dombie Hill Road, Victoria Road, and Radar Site Holberg.
