M5 to Close for Maintenance Works near Bridgwater
The M5 will be closed between Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea for barrier maintenance works in November.
A section of the motorway's wire rope barrier has reached the end of its life and will be replaced with new steel beam barriers.
Planned Closures
- The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight between Junction 22 and Junction 24 on November 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 from 8pm to 6am.
- The southbound carriageway will be closed on November 9.
Traffic will be diverted via the A38 to re-join the M5 during the closures.
The overnight closures have been planned to avoid the nights of the Burnham and Weston-super-Mare carnivals.
The £1.1 million barrier renewal scheme is part of a larger maintenance project.
