Matthew Carney, executive producer of Four Corners since 2022, has resigned. He will remain in his position until a successor is appointed.
Carney has been with the ABC since 1995 and has won three Walkley Awards. He was previously executive producer of Foreign Correspondent and China bureau chief.
ABC News boss Justin Stevens informed staff that Carney's resignation is unrelated to an investigation into reporter Mahmood Fazal. The final Four Corners program for 2025 aired with 575,000 viewers, and the show is currently nominated for the 2025 Walkley Awards.
Carney was leaving in the coming months, but would stay until his replacement was appointed.
