Suffolk Voters Approve Ballot Measure

Suffolk County voters approved a referendum to extend the length of terms for county legislators from two to four years.

Winners will serve a three-year term and can run for reelection in 2028. The referendum, Proposition 2, passed in a rebuke to the state shifting local elections to even years.

Development in the Adirondack Park requires constitutional permission.
