UC Berkeley’s Conservative Students Host TPUSA Event

Conservative students at the University of California Berkeley are moving forward with a Turning Point USA event originally set to be headlined by Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in September 2025.

New Speakers Announced

Comedian and filmmaker Rob Schneider along with Christian author Frank Turek will appear in place of Kirk at the event.

Event Background and Significance

“The day of our first meeting where we were going to announce that Charlie was coming to campus was the day that he was assassinated,” said John Paul Leon, a junior at UC Berkeley and president of the university's Turning Point USA chapter, to Fox News Digital.

Leon has been working closely with the university and the Turning Point USA national organization to organize the event despite the tragedy.

Security Measures

The event, scheduled exactly two months after Kirk’s assassination on September 10 at Utah Valley University during his “American Comeback Tour,” will include strict security protocols. Details include a no-bag policy and comprehensive safety precautions to protect attendees and speakers.

“Internally, we’re spending lots of time to ensure that security is really tight and really secure and having our own meetings just completely dedicated to security themselves,” Leon added.

Campus Atmosphere and Legacy

Since the assassination, the campus atmosphere has been mournful, but students remain determined to honor Kirk’s legacy through this event.

“Since Kirk’s assassination, the mood on campus has been ‘somber,’ but students are pushing forward to honor Kirk’s legacy,” Leon said.

Summary: UC Berkeley’s conservative students are persevering with a TPUSA event to honor Charlie Kirk, implementing strong security while continuing his mission despite recent tragedy.
