Duffer Brothers Respond to Bullying Claims at ‘Stranger Things’ Premiere

Director and executive producer Shawn Levy dismissed some reports about Millie Bobby Brown accusing co-star David Harbour of harassment and bullying as “wildly inaccurate.”

During the final season press tour for Stranger Things, Netflix avoided addressing a viral story alleging that Brown accused Harbour of bullying on set. Despite the controversy, both actors appeared cheerful together at the season five premiere in Los Angeles.

When asked on the red carpet about the bullying claims, co-creator Ross Duffer said to The Hollywood Reporter,

“Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”

Shawn Levy was also asked how the production handles bullying complaints and ensures a safe environment. He responded,

“At the end of the day, that’s the job. You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment. And we’re proud of the fact that we did so.”
