The Minnesota Wild were aiming for their third consecutive victory but could not hold off the Carolina Hurricanes, who rallied for a 4–3 win after a tightly contested match. Despite leading twice and managing a 3–3 tie, the Wild ultimately fell short.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t find a way to win the hockey game, but it was a hard-fought battle by both teams,” said Wild coach John Hynes. “They had pushes and surges, and we had pushes and surges. But, unfortunately, we weren’t the team to win it tonight.”
“This is a really good team we’re playing against, and we’re matching up against them pretty good today,” said Gustavsson, who noted that he didn’t change anything to regain rhythm as the game went on.
Minnesota’s special teams performed well despite the loss, maintaining recent consistency. With this defeat, the Wild dropped to a 5–7–3 record and remain winless (0–6–1) when trailing after the first period. The team also failed to produce a shot during its only power play opportunity.
The Wild showed effort and resilience but couldn’t contain the Hurricanes’ momentum, missing another chance to build a winning streak.
