The Sydney to Auckland Ocean Race is evoking various emotions aboard the yachts remaining at sea, as conditions change from wild and wet to light and tricky.
The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club's 1250 nautical mile race has delivered a range of conditions, including hard reaching, grey skies, rain, starry nights, and beautiful sunrises.
"Well, looks like we might manage 24 hours without a sail change. We had a beautiful spinnaker reach all day yesterday on the back end of the south-westerly front that came through yesterday morning."
