Japanese Firm to Aid Hawaii in Achieving Clean Energy Goals

A collaboration agreement has been signed between Hawaii and JERA Co. Inc., Japan's largest power generation company, to help Hawaii achieve its clean energy and decarbonization goals.

The agreement was signed on October 6 by Josh Green and JERA Co. Inc. during a week-long trip to Japan, which included over a dozen state government officials and lawmakers.

JERA has committed to eliminating carbon dioxide emissions from its domestic and international operations by 2050 through the use of renewable energy, greener fuels, and zero-emission thermal power.

This partnership aims to support Hawaii's clean energy objectives, with JERA's expertise and commitment to sustainability playing a key role.
