The well-known Toyota Hilux pickup truck, famous worldwide for its durability and occasional use in carrying heavy automatic weapons, has now gone electric. The ninth-generation Hilux launched today in Thailand, a decade after the previous model.
Toyota highlighted the electric variant first, while also planning to introduce diesel and hydrogen fuel cell versions as part of its “multi-pathway approach.” The Hilux will come in both single- and double-cab styles, though Europe will only receive the double-cab due to sales preferences.
Toyota states the new Hilux BEV will travel about 150 miles (240 kilometers) on a full charge, based on the WLTP cycle.
This new electric Hilux marks Toyota's commitment to diverse propulsion methods, ensuring durability and capability in modern pickup design.
