An Indigenous senator has intensified her criticism of King Charles III, accusing the British monarch of complicity in the “genocide” against Australia’s First Peoples.
Australian Senator Lidia Thorpe disrupted a parliamentary reception attended by King Charles and Queen Camilla, shouting at the monarch for British colonizers taking Indigenous land and bones.
She declared she will not be “shut down” after being escorted out of the reception.
Senator Thorpe's comments followed the encounter with the monarch at a parliamentary reception hosted by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
