Tragedy as Woman and Child Drown in Freak Accident

A woman and a child lost their lives after falling into a waterway in southeast Melbourne on Monday afternoon. The tragic event occurred around 3:45 p.m. at Dandenong Creek, near Allan Street in Dandenong.
Details of the Event
According to police reports, the woman entered the creek in an attempt to rescue the child but soon found herself in distress. Both were later found unconscious in the water by emergency responders.
Emergency Response
First responders performed CPR on the victims, but sadly, they could not be revived. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation
As of now, neither the woman nor the child has been formally identified. Authorities confirmed that a report will be prepared for the coroner to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
