Police have confirmed that a woman and a child drowned in Dandenong Creek this afternoon, November 10. The incident occurred near Allan Street around 3:45 p.m.

According to officers, a witness reported that two people were swept away after falling into the water. It is believed the woman tried to rescue the child but soon found herself in danger as well.

“A woman and child have drowned after falling into Dandenong Creek this afternoon,” police said.

Police conducted an urgent search of the area and located the pair unconscious. Officers pulled them from the water and performed CPR, but despite efforts, both could not be revived and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed. Authorities will prepare a report for the coroner.
